A weekend of birthday celebrations

We decided to go to Ga. this weekend because my grandmother had a birthday last weekend and my sister was throwing a surprise birthday party for my brother-in-law. I'll start with Saturday. We didn't know if we were going to be able to go. On the way home my husband called and told me that his car was acting funny and that we needed to take it in to an automotive shop. I dried the kids off at the pool and off we went. The repair ended up not being anything major but the shop couldn't get the car ready in time for us to leave. We couldn't pick the car up on Sunday because the shop wasn't open. Well, I was pretty certain that we would be spending the weekend at home. Then I had an idea. I called the automotive shop and explained our dilemma to the manager. He was so sweet and told us that if we would call him on his personal phone, he would meet us on Sunday to pick up the car. We grabbed some lunch on Saturday and left for Ga. We arrived at my sister's house that afternoon around 3:30. My little boy had seen surprise parties on tv and all he could think about was where he was going to hide. My brother-in-law ended up coming in a little later than we thought so my little boy was stuck hiding for quite a while. My brother-in-law was totally surprised. It took some very sweet friends to help my sister pull it all off. Doug took Jon on a run while Lisa prepared almost all the food for the party. We had a lot of fun and actually ended up spending the night with my sister.

The next day we woke up, got ready and headed off to my grandmother's house. She turned 81 last weekend. This is the grandmother that was married to my sweet papa who passed away last year. This was her first birthday without him. My dad came to grandmama's to see us, which the kids loved. Grandmama sat down with N and showed her pictures of her grandparents. She told her that she was going to make her a book about her ancestry. N has been very into genealogy lately. She's always asking about my great and great great grandparents.I loved seeing my grandmama and daddy. I'm so glad that we moved closer to our families so that we can see them more often. N is crazy about my grandmama. She snuggled up next to her on the sofa and didn't want to leave. The field next to grandmama's house was full of flowers. The kids just had to pick them. I'm convinced that pollen season in Ga. is worse than any other state. I had terrible allergies the whole time I was there.

I'm so glad that we were able to go and celebrate our loved ones birthdays. Now, prepare yourselves for a bunch of pictures:)

My advice, if you're spouse is turning 40. Buy the number candles. Seriously, 40 candles on a cake. Do you see all that smoke???

Lots of yummy food!
